The Visconti Tutankhamun Limited Edition Fountain Pen is an exquisite writing instrument that honors the amazing discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb by British Egyptologist Howard Carter in 1922. This limited edition collection celebrates the magnificence of Tutankhamun's solid gold burial mask, one of the most recognizable works of art the world has ever seen. The pen cap and barrel are decorated with a central band made from ivory-colored resin, which features hieroglyphics and other images from the ancient walls inside the pharaoh's burial chamber. Using a time-consuming scrimshaw technique, the hand-filled engravings stand out from the off-white background in a dramatically precise way. With its striking enamel stripes of blue, red, and green, it is reminiscent of the pharaoh's necklace. The top of the pen cap features darker blue enameled stripes, similar to the Nemes cloth that covered Tutankhamun's crown. A cobra is carved into the lower portion of the pen cap, a symbol of Tutankhamun's rule of Lower Egypt, and the blind cap design is reminiscent of his beard. The trim of the pen is yellow gold vermeil with a brushed finish.
