Description
The Visconti Mirage Mythos Odysseus fountain pen is a piece of Florentine design that doesn't ask for a luxury budget. Named after Odysseus, the wandering hero of Greek mythology, it's part of Visconti's Mirage Mythos collection, and it pairs a deep blue acrylic resin body with gold-plated trim. If you've been looking for an Italian fountain pen with real character, this is a beautiful place to start.
Visconti: Italian pen making from Florence
Visconti was founded in Florence in 1988 and is known for bold materials, clever engineering and an unmistakably Italian sense of style. The Mirage Mythos carries that spirit into a more accessible pen, made in Italy and finished with the same attention to detail.
A magnetic cap that's a pleasure to use
Instead of threads or a push-fit, the Mirage Mythos uses a magnetic cap. It closes with a satisfying, secure pull and comes off with a light tug, so it's quick to uncap for a note and just as easy to close again. The cap can also be posted on the back of the barrel if you like a longer pen.
Size, weight and balance
The pen measures 139.3mm capped and 159mm posted, with a comfortable 15mm diameter. It weighs 32g in total (13g cap, 19g barrel), which gives it a reassuring, well-balanced feel in the hand without being tiring for long writing sessions.
Steel nib in Fine, Medium or Broad
Choose a steel nib in Fine, Medium or Broad. Fine suits smaller handwriting and everyday notes, Medium is a versatile all-rounder, and Broad gives a bold, expressive line that shows off ink colour and shading. The pen fills by cartridge or converter, and both are included. The converter holds about 0.80ml, letting you use any bottled ink.
