Description
Quick facts: Sailor, Japan · 1911 Casual Shikiori Hisakata series · Uchimizu blue resin · chrome trim · twist-action ballpoint · 134mm · 22g.
On hot summer afternoons in Japan, people splash water over the street in front of their homes to cool the air and settle the dust. That custom is called uchimizu, and the fresh, watery blue of this Sailor Uchimizu ball pen captures exactly that feeling of relief. If you've been looking for a blue Japanese ball pen that feels light, cheerful and a little bit different, this is a lovely place to start.
A pen that suits Indian weather, literally
We say this half-jokingly, but a resin body really does make a difference here. It doesn't heat up in your hand like metal pens can in a Chennai or Delhi summer, and at 22g it won't tire your fingers during long exam papers or back-to-back client forms. The barrel is 12mm wide, a comfortable grip size for most adults.
The 1911 Casual line
Sailor named its signature design after 1911, the year the company started making pens in Japan. The Casual version keeps that familiar rounded shape but pairs it with fun seasonal colours from the Shikiori collection. Shikiori loosely translates to "weaving the four seasons", and the Hisakata series within it looks to the sky and the elements.
Using it
Twist to write, twist to close. There's no cap and no spring click, which also means one less part to break. Ballpoint ink is fast drying and handles most paper types, so this is a dependable choice for everyday office use.
