Named after Sicily's famous volcano, the Leonardo Essenza Ebonite No.8 Steel Nib Fountain Pen in Etna GT is a fiery, multicoloured ebonite pen with gold plated trim. It's an Italian piston filler with real warmth and character, made from a material fountain pen lovers adore.
Why ebonite?
Ebonite is a hardened rubber that's been used to make fountain pens for well over a century. It has a warm, slightly soft feel in the hand, and many writers find it more comfortable and grippy than glossy acrylic. Multicolour ebonite also has a rich, organic pattern, so each pen looks a little different.
The Essenza design
Essenza is one of Leonardo's signature models. This version pairs its ebonite body with a large No.8 steel nib, offered in Fine, Medium or Broad, and a piston filling system that draws ink straight from the bottle.
Gold trim
Gold plated fittings bring out the warm tones of the Etna ebonite and give the pen a classic, luxurious finish.
Caring for ebonite
Ebonite is best kept away from long periods of direct sunlight, which can fade its colour over time. Store it in a case or drawer when you're not using it, and wipe it with a soft cloth.
