Description
Quick look: sky blue resin · gold plated trim · twist-action ballpoint · 133mm · 29g · made in Japan.
In the Japanese folk tale Tsuru no Ongaeshi, a poor man frees a crane caught in a trap. Soon after, a mysterious young woman appears at his door and weaves cloth of astonishing beauty, asking only that he never watch her work. It's a story about kindness and gratitude, and it's the inspiration for the Sailor Shikiori Japanese Fairy Tale Grateful Crane ball pen.
Sky blue with gold
The soft sky blue resin brings to mind a crane in flight against an open sky, and the gold plated trim adds warmth and a sense of occasion. It's a calm, uplifting colour, lovely on a desk and easy to spot in a bag.
A heavier, steadier ball pen
With a total weight of 29g, this pen has a reassuring, planted feel that many writers prefer to lightweight pens. It's 133mm long and 12mm in diameter. The twist mechanism is smooth and quiet, and there's no cap to go missing.
The perfect thank-you gift
Given the story behind it, the Grateful Crane is a natural choice when you want to say thank you: to a teacher, a mentor, a doctor, a colleague who helped you out, or a friend who was there when it mattered. Sailor's own gift box and the international warranty card come with it.
The rest of the series
The Shikiori Japanese Fairy Tale collection also includes Vega, Princess Kaguya and the Dragon Palace, each with its own colour and story.
