That's the yuki usagi, and it's the charming idea behind the Sailor 1911 Casual Shikiori Kusa Asobi Yuki Usagi ball pen.
Kusa Asobi: playing with nature
Kusa asobi means "playing with grass", the simple games children make out of leaves, flowers and whatever they find outdoors. Sailor's Kusa Asobi series celebrates those memories through colour, with each pen named after a different nature game. Yuki Usagi takes its green from those leafy rabbit ears, set off by gold plated trim.
It's part of the wider Sailor Shikiori collection, whose name means "weaving the four seasons". It's one of the most loved ranges among Japanese pen collectors.
Shape and feel
Like all 1911 Casual pens, it follows the classic Sailor 1911 outline, with rounded ends and a smooth resin barrel. It's 134mm long, 12mm in diameter and 22g, a nicely balanced everyday size.
Easy, capless writing
A twist of the barrel brings the tip out. Twist back and it's safely tucked away, so you can carry it in a pocket or pencil case without worrying about ink marks. Ballpoint ink is dependable, quick drying and works on nearly any paper.
