The story behind Liber
Like its sister editions, the Liber 18K pen draws on the Liber Paradisus, a decree issued in Bologna in 1256 and often cited as one of Europe's earliest legal affirmations that all people are born free. Scribo, itself based in Bologna, uses the Liber 18K version to link the act of writing with intellectual and personal freedom.
Solid ebonite, warm to the touch
The Liber 18K pen's body is solid ebonite with a matte finish, which feels warmer and grips better than polished resin. Its colour, deep red ebonite with yellow veining, is set off by gold trim, and the generous La Dotta proportions, about 148mm capped, make the Liber 18K a comfortable pen for long sessions.
The 18K gold nib
The Liber 18K pen's 18K gold nib comes in an unusually wide choice of sizes, from Extra Extra Fine to Triple Broad and a 1.4mm Stub, so you can match it precisely to your handwriting. An ebonite feed with dual channels keeps ink flowing consistently to the Liber nib.
