The 1911 story
The 1911 is Sailor's signature cigar-shaped fountain pen, named after the year the company was founded in Japan. The Casual L Stable, launched in February 2026, takes the full-sized 1911L silhouette in PMMA resin, adds a weighted brass grip section, and pairs it with a hand-finished steel nib tuned to feel closer to a gold nib, in soft, muted colours with gold trim.
Sailor's famous feedback
Sailor nibs are known for their precision and gentle, pencil-like feedback. Japanese nib sizes also run finer than European ones, so a Sailor Fine is closer to a Western Extra Fine. That makes these pens perfect for small handwriting and for writing Indian and Asian scripts neatly.
What is a Medium Fine nib?
Medium Fine is a Sailor favourite that sits between Fine and Medium. It is an excellent all-round choice if you are unsure which size to pick.
Why muted red?
A muted red feels mature and refined. It pairs beautifully with leather notebooks and warm-toned inks, and looks distinguished in both office and home settings.
Perfect pairings
Sailor Shikiori Yodaki ink, with its deep crimson tones, complements the pen's muted red body with real elegance.
