Mercury is one of the more striking finishes in the Penlux Masterpiece Delgado line. The multicolour acrylic body shifts and swirls as you turn the pen, and rose-gold-plated trim gives it a warm, modern edge. If you want something that doesn't look like every other pen in the office, this is a good place to start.
How it feels in the hand
The Delgado has a 15.8mm girth and measures 143mm with the cap on, making it a comfortable mid-size pen. At 26g (the cap is 10g, the barrel 16g), it's light enough for long writing but has enough body not to feel flimsy. The screw cap threads on securely, and you can post it to 162mm if you like a longer pen.
Piston filler and steel nib
Like the rest of the Delgado family, Mercury uses a built-in piston filler with roughly 1ml capacity. That means you're free to use any bottled ink, which is half the fun of owning a fountain pen. The steel nib is offered in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad. Fine or Extra Fine suits small handwriting and planners, and Medium or Broad lets ink colours show off.
