Hayate: Gale
Hayate means a gale, a powerful gust of wind, and also suggests something pure and lively. Deep black urushi is finished with silver powders applied in varying intensities, so sweeping lines of wind seem to move across the barrel.
The Aya collection
Like every Aya pen, the Aya Hayate uses its own coloured urushi lacquer to suggest a natural scene. The Aya Hayate is finished in togidashi maki-e: gold and silver dust is sprinkled into the lacquer, covered with further layers of urushi and then polished back by hand until the design appears.
Namiki's No. 30 nib
Namiki's large No. 30 nib on the Aya Hayate is 18K gold, engraved with Mount Fuji, and comes in Fine Medium, Medium or Broad. The Aya Hayate fills with Pilot cartridges or the included Pilot CON-70 converter, holding up to about 1.4ml of ink.
