Akatsuki: Daybreak
Akatsuki is the dark, mysterious hour just before sunrise, and the name also signifies a wish being fulfilled. Gold powder glows through deep red urushi, evoking the sun rising out of the night.
The Aya collection
Like every Aya pen, the Aya Akatsuki uses its own coloured urushi lacquer to suggest a natural scene. The Aya Akatsuki is finished in togidashi maki-e: gold and silver dust is sprinkled into the lacquer, covered with further layers of urushi and then polished back by hand until the design appears.
Namiki's No. 30 nib
Namiki's large No. 30 nib on the Aya Akatsuki is 18K gold, engraved with Mount Fuji, and comes in Fine Medium, Medium or Broad. The Aya Akatsuki fills with Pilot cartridges or the included Pilot CON-70 converter, holding up to about 1.4ml of ink.
