Description
Montegrappa Casanova Limited Edition Fountain Pen
Few names conjure up 18th-century Venice like Casanova. The Montegrappa Casanova Limited Edition Fountain Pen marks 300 years since the birth of Giacomo Casanova in 1725, with sterling silver, enamel and gold detail worthy of a Venetian palazzo.
Casanova was a writer, adventurer, diplomat and spy whose memoir is one of the most vivid accounts of Europe in the age of powdered wigs and masked balls. Montegrappa, Italy's oldest pen maker, founded in 1912 in Bassano del Grappa, has filled the Montegrappa Casanova fountain pen with references to his playful, secretive world.
Masterly decoration
The Montegrappa Casanova fountain pen is decorated with sterling silver overlay made by lost-wax casting, with vermeil and cloisonné enamel. A faceted red carnelian crowns the cap, and the clip is shaped like the curved cabriole leg of a rococo chair.
The discretion door
In keeping with Casanova's life of secrets, the barrel of the Montegrappa Casanova fountain pen hides a small 'discretion door'. Open it to reveal a hidden scene, a nod to the curiosa that collectors of his era kept out of sight.
18K gold nib with a carnival mask
The Montegrappa Casanova fountain pen writes with an 18K gold nib engraved with a harlequin carnival mask, the symbol of Venice's famous Carnevale. We offer it in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad and a 1.1mm Stub.
Piston filling
A built-in piston draws bottled ink directly into the Montegrappa Casanova fountain pen, so it is always ready for a long letter or a page of your own memoirs.
Size and presentation
The Montegrappa Casanova fountain pen is 154mm long, 18mm in diameter and weighs about 91g, a grand pen in every sense. It comes in a lockable, scarlet-lacquered display chest with a golden key.
