A 1920s classic, reborn
'Drehgriffel' is German for 'twist grip', and Leuchtturm1917 based the Pumpkin Drehgriffel gel pen on a writing instrument from the 1920s, reworking it with precision-milled aluminium and brass for today. The six-sided barrel of the Pumpkin Drehgriffel gel pen sits naturally between the fingers and will not roll off the desk.
Writing with the Pumpkin gel pen
A smooth twist brings the tip forward. The 0.5mm refill in the Pumpkin gel pen uses a black gel ink developed in Japan and a ceramic ball, giving a fine, dark, consistent line that glides with very little pressure. The Pumpkin pen takes standard G2-format refills, so you can also fit a Leuchtturm1917 Flow ballpoint refill if you prefer.
Why Pumpkin?
In Pumpkin, the hexagonal aluminium barrel glows a warm, autumnal orange, making this gel pen as nice to look at as it is to write with.
Pumpkin is part of Leuchtturm1917's 2026 colour collection, so the Pumpkin Drehgriffel gel pen can be matched with notebooks and planners in the same shade.
A thoughtful gift
Compact, beautifully made and clipless, the Pumpkin Drehgriffel gel pen slips into a notebook pen loop, pencil case or shirt pocket. Pair the Pumpkin Drehgriffel gel pen with a Leuchtturm1917 notebook for a gift that feels personal and practical.
