What is a clutch pencil?
Unlike a regular mechanical pencil that advances a thin lead in small steps, a clutch pencil uses a set of jaws to grip a thick lead. Press the button, the jaws open, and you let out as much lead as you want. It gives you far more control, which is why clutch pencils are a favourite for drawing and drafting.
Why 3.2mm lead?
A thick lead is strong and doesn't snap easily. You can sharpen it to a fine point for detail, or use the side of the lead for wide shading. It's also great for bold handwriting, marking up plans and colouring in.
The Kaweco Sport shape
Kaweco's Sport design is a German classic, instantly recognisable by its octagonal form. This clutch pencil is just 103mm long, so it fits easily in a pocket, pouch or small sketch kit. It's 13mm in diameter, giving a comfortable grip, and weighs only 11.3g.
