Inspired by fool's gold
Pyrite is a brassy mineral that has fooled prospectors for centuries with its golden gleam. Pelikan captured that look in ink: a golden tone with a cool grey undertone, so it reads more like antique metal than bright yellow. Pelikan contrasts it with the warmer Golden Beryl from 2021.
Edelstein Ink of the Year
Every year Pelikan adds a special colour to its premium Edelstein ('gemstone') range. The 2025 ink was Apricot Achat; for 2026 it is Pyrite. Each Ink of the Year is produced for its year in limited quantities, and once it is sold out it is usually gone for good, which makes it popular with collectors.
Shimmer and sheen
Fine shimmer particles are spread evenly through the ink, giving each stroke a soft metallic sparkle, while the strong sheen adds extra depth where ink pools. Both show best with broad, stub and wetter nibs on smooth paper.
