Faber-Castell Essentio Fountain Pen - Aluminium Black RT

Faber-Castell Essentio Fountain Pen - Aluminium Black RT

Black aluminium, dark-toned trim. The Faber-Castell Essentio Fountain Pen in Aluminium Black combines black anodised aluminium with ruthenium trim with a soft-touch grip zone for exceptional comfort. The Aluminium Black Essentio is a modern, practical fountain pen for people who write every day.

Faber-Castell, founded in Germany in 1761, designed the Essentio, here in Aluminium Black, around one idea: making writing as comfortable as possible. The Faber-Castell Essentio Aluminium Black fountain pen is part of the Essentio Aluminium line, and it pairs a clean, contemporary look with a smooth stainless steel nib.

The Essentio design

The Essentio is Faber-Castell's modern take on a classic fountain pen: a slim, cylindrical body with clean lines, a spring-loaded metal clip and an ergonomic grip zone with a soft-touch coating in a contrasting colour. The soft-touch grip is the heart of the design. It gives the fingers a comfortable, slightly cushioned hold, so the pen stays steady even during long writing sessions, and it adds a subtle two-tone accent to the pen's appearance.

The Aluminium Black finish

The Aluminium Black Essentio pairs a black anodised aluminium barrel with dark ruthenium-coloured trim. The result is a sleek, low-key pen with a subtle metallic contrast, more refined than plain black and less bright than chrome.

The aluminium body keeps it light, and the dark tones make it look smart in any professional setting.

Writing with the Essentio

The Faber-Castell Essentio Aluminium Black fountain pen has a high-quality stainless steel nib with a smooth, even flow, offered in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad. Combined with the soft-touch grip, it makes the Aluminium Black Essentio especially comfortable for long lectures, exams and meetings, when a harder metal grip might start to feel slippery.

Practical details

The spring-loaded metal clip of the Faber-Castell Essentio Aluminium Black fountain pen holds the pen securely on a pocket, a notebook cover or a planner, without stretching the fabric. The detachable cap protects the nib of the Aluminium Black Essentio in a bag, and a cartridge is included in the box so you can start writing right away.

Who it is for

The Faber-Castell Essentio Aluminium Black fountain pen is ideal for students, office workers and anyone who writes for long periods, as well as for writers who find thin metal pens tiring. The Aluminium Black Essentio is also a reliable, stylish gift at an accessible price.

Choosing the right nib

Not sure which nib to pick? An Extra Fine nib gives the thinnest line and suits small handwriting, diaries and thin paper. A Fine nib is the everyday choice for most writers in India, neat and precise on office paper. A Medium nib lays down a little more ink, so colours look richer and the pen feels smoother. A Broad nib is bold and expressive, ideal for signatures, cards and showing off shading inks. If you write quickly or press lightly, a Medium is a safe, comfortable choice; if you write small, go for Fine or Extra Fine.

Cartridges, converters and bottled ink

You have two ways to fill this pen. Standard international cartridges are clean, quick and perfect for travel: just push one in and start writing. For the widest choice of colours, add a Faber-Castell standard converter and fill from a bottle of fountain pen ink. A bottle of ink lasts far longer than a box of cartridges, so bottled ink is the favourite of regular fountain pen users.

Ink recommendations

The Faber-Castell Essentio Aluminium Black fountain pen is happy with almost any fountain pen ink. A few colours we recommend with the Aluminium Black finish, all at Makoba:

• Graf von Faber-Castell Carbon Black: a dense black for a monochrome set
• Graf von Faber-Castell Garnet Red: a rich red for contrast
• Graf von Faber-Castell Stone Grey: a soft, modern grey
• Graf von Faber-Castell Deep Sea Green: a deep green with character

Caring for your fountain pen

A little care keeps a fountain pen writing beautifully for years. Cap the pen whenever you are not writing so the nib does not dry out. Every few weeks, or whenever you change ink colours, flush the nib section with lukewarm water until it runs clear, then let it dry. Use only fountain pen ink, never drawing ink or Indian ink, which can clog the feed. If the pen will not be used for a while, empty it, rinse it and store it clean.

The Essentio family

The Essentio range includes aluminium, metal and carbon versions, each in fountain pen, rollerball and ballpoint form, so you can choose the material and colour that suit you and build a matching set. The aluminium models are the lightest and most colourful, the metal models have a bright, solid feel, and the carbon models bring a technical, sporty look. All of them share the same comfortable grip and the same reliable stainless steel nib.

Styling the Aluminium Black

Aluminium Black is the most versatile Essentio: it works with black leather, dark suits, grey desks and modern tech. Fill it with black for a stealthy, monochrome look, or with a bright colour such as red or turquoise to make your notes stand out. It is a strong choice for corporate gifting and for anyone who prefers dark, understated pens.

A gift worth giving

A quality pen remains one of the best gifts you can give. It is useful, personal and long-lasting, and it suits almost every occasion, from exam success and first jobs to milestone birthdays and thank-you gifts for colleagues and clients. Delivered in the original brand box, it is ready to wrap and give.

Pair it with good paper

To get the most out of your writing, pair it with good paper. Smooth, coated papers keep lines crisp and stop ink from feathering, while thicker paper reduces show-through on the reverse side. Browse our notebooks and writing pads to find the right paper for your pen.
