Two traditions, one extraordinary pen. The Scribo Piuma Tamenuri Fountain Pen in Hane Kuro with 18K gold nib combines Scribo's elegant Piuma shape with tamenuri urushi lacquer applied by hand in Japan.
Piuma means 'feather' in Italian and 'hane' means feather in Japanese, while 'kuro' means black, so the Piuma Hane Kuro 18K is a feather in two languages, finished in deep black tamenuri with green tones, and platinum details. The Piuma Hane Kuro 18K is for collectors who love East meeting West.
What is tamenuri?
Tamenuri, used on the Piuma Hane Kuro 18K, is a Japanese urushi technique in which layers of natural lacquer are built up by hand so colour glows from beneath. On the Piuma Hane Kuro 18K, the lacquer is applied over the resin in a Japanese artisan's studio before the pen returns to Bologna for assembly.
