Description
The Sailor Profit Junior Amamoyoi fountain pen set from the Yurameku Series is a little different from the usual. Alongside its green resin body and chrome trim, it comes with Sailor's Fude nib, a specially bent nib that lets one pen write both fine and bold lines. If you've ever wanted a fountain pen for calligraphy, sketching or expressive handwriting without buying multiple pens, this is a fun and affordable way to try it.
What is a Sailor Fude nib?
"Fude" comes from the Japanese word for brush. The tip of a Fude nib is bent upward at an angle. Hold the pen upright and it writes a fine line, then lower the pen towards the paper and the line gets broader. That makes it popular for East Asian brush-style writing, for adding thick-and-thin character to headings and signatures, and for quick sketching and shading. It takes a few minutes to get used to, and then it becomes addictive.
Light and comfortable Profit Junior body
The Profit Junior is a slim, lightweight pen: 12g in total, 12mm in diameter, 134mm capped and 144mm posted. The shape follows Sailor's classic 1911 styling with rounded ends, and a secure screw cap keeps the nib from drying out when you carry it around.
Cartridge and converter included
Both a cartridge and a converter come with the set. Use cartridges for convenience, or fill the converter (about 0.62ml) from a bottle. A Fude nib lays down more ink on its broad strokes, so it shows off shading inks particularly well. Sailor pens use Sailor's own cartridge fitting.

Frequently asked questions
How do I use a Fude nib?
Hold the pen more upright for a fine line and tilt it lower towards the paper for a broader line. Varying the angle as you write gives thick-and-thin strokes.
Is a Fude nib good for everyday writing?
It can be. Held at a steep angle it writes a fine line, but most people enjoy it most for headings, signatures, sketching and brush-style lettering.
Is a converter included?
Yes. The set includes a cartridge and a converter (about 0.62ml).
