The story of the Drehgriffel
For the Cherry Drehgriffel gel pen, Leuchtturm1917, best known for its notebooks, revived a forgotten twist-action design from the 1920s; it keeps that vintage simplicity: no clip, no buttons, just a hexagonal milled body and a twist mechanism made in Germany.
Writing with the Cherry gel pen
A smooth twist brings the tip forward. The 0.5mm refill in the Cherry gel pen uses a black gel ink developed in Japan and a ceramic ball, giving a fine, dark, consistent line that glides with very little pressure. The Cherry pen takes standard G2-format refills, so you can also fit a Leuchtturm1917 Flow ballpoint refill if you prefer.
Why Cherry?
Cherry is a bold, juicy red that gives the Drehgriffel real presence on a desk. It is a perfect gift for anyone who loves colour.
Cherry is part of Leuchtturm1917's 2026 colour collection, so the Cherry Drehgriffel gel pen can be matched with notebooks and planners in the same shade.
A thoughtful gift
Compact, beautifully made and clipless, the Cherry Drehgriffel gel pen slips into a notebook pen loop, pencil case or shirt pocket. Pair the Cherry Drehgriffel gel pen with a Leuchtturm1917 notebook for a gift that feels personal and practical.
