Description
The Visconti Van Gogh Ball Pen, The Prisoners' Round (Special Edition) completes Visconti's tribute to one of Vincent van Gogh's most powerful late works, in a practical twist-action ballpoint.
The painting
In February 1890, at the Saint-Paul asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Van Gogh painted a circle of prisoners walking endlessly around a high-walled yard. He based it on Gustave Doré's 1872 engraving of Newgate prison's exercise yard. The original hangs in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.
What makes this ballpoint special
- Acrylic resin in the painting's muted blues and greys, so every pen looks slightly different
- Gold-plated trim with a sprung clip
- Twist mechanism: turn to write, turn back to retract
- Progressively numbered special edition
- Made in Italy by Visconti, the Florentine pen house
Complete the set
The Prisoners' Round is also available at Makoba as a fountain pen, rollerball and 0.7mm mechanical pencil, perfect for collectors who want the full series.
