Description
Scribo Piuma Tamenuri 14K Fountain Pen - Hane Kuro & Platinum (Limited Edition)
Italian design, Japanese lacquer. The Scribo Piuma Tamenuri Fountain Pen in Hane Kuro with 14K gold flex nib combines Scribo's elegant Piuma shape with tamenuri urushi lacquer applied by hand in Japan.
Piuma means 'feather' in Italian and 'hane' means feather in Japanese, while 'kuro' means black, so the Piuma Hane Kuro 14K is a feather in two languages, finished in deep black tamenuri with green tones, and platinum details. The Piuma Hane Kuro 14K is for collectors who love East meeting West.
What is tamenuri?
Tamenuri, used on the Piuma Hane Kuro 14K, is a Japanese urushi technique in which layers of natural lacquer are built up by hand so colour glows from beneath. On the Piuma Hane Kuro 14K, the lacquer is applied over the resin in a Japanese artisan's studio before the pen returns to Bologna for assembly.
The Piuma shape
The Piuma Hane Kuro 14K has the Piuma's slim oval profile with two subtle facets, which sit naturally in the hand and keep the pen from rolling.
14K gold flex nib
The Piuma Hane Kuro 14K has an exclusive Scribo 14K gold nib on an ebonite feed. This flexible nib responds to pressure with expressive line variation, in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium and Broad.
Filling and size
The Piuma Hane Kuro 14K fills with cartridges or the included converter. The Piuma Hane Kuro 14K is 145mm capped, 175mm posted, about 30g.
