Sailor 1911 King of Pens Tamenuri Raden Nami Limited Edition Fountain Pen
Waves of light, captured in lacquer. The Sailor 1911 King of Pens Tamenuri Raden Nami Limited Edition Fountain Pen combines two traditional Japanese crafts, tame-nuri lacquering and raden shell inlay, on Sailor's largest pen.
'Nami' (波) means 'waves' in Japanese, and the Sailor Nami King of Pens is decorated with fluid, rhythmic patterns that seem to roll across the barrel. Sailor, founded in Hiroshima in 1911, is one of Japan's most respected pen makers, and the Sailor Nami King of Pens is a true collector's piece.
Tame-nuri lacquer
Tame-nuri is a technique in which layers of lacquer are built up one by one, so colour glows from beneath a transparent surface. On the Sailor Nami King of Pens this gives a deep, warm translucency that changes as the pen moves.
Raden shell inlay
Raden is the Japanese art of inlaying iridescent shell. Pieces of shell are set into the lacquer of the Sailor Nami King of Pens, where they shimmer with flashes of blue, green and pink like light on water.
Ebonite body
Underneath the lacquer, the Sailor Nami King of Pens is made of ebonite, a hard rubber valued for its warmth in the hand and its durability over decades.
The King of Pens nib
The Sailor Nami King of Pens has Sailor's large King of Pens nib in 21K gold, famous for its precise, slightly feedback-rich writing. We offer it in Medium and Broad.
Filling and size
The Sailor Nami King of Pens fills with Sailor cartridges or the supplied converter. It is 153.5mm long capped and weighs about 33g.
