One of the 47 ronin
Tominomori Sukeemon Masakata was one of the 47 Ako-roshi, the loyal retainers who avenged their lord in the Ako Incident, retold in Japan as Chushingura, the Treasury of Loyal Retainers. The design follows the ukiyo-e master Utagawa Kuniyoshi, famous for his bold warrior prints.
Hand-made maki-e
The artwork on the Sukeemon Masakata King of Pens is created in maki-e, with lacquer and metal powders built up by hand over an ebonite body finished in urushi. Retailer listings credit the maki-e to artist Koushu Nishihara. The clipless design leaves the whole surface free for the picture.
The King of Pens nib
Under the cap of the Sukeemon Masakata King of Pens sits Sailor's large 21K gold King of Pens nib, the biggest in the Sailor range. We offer it in Medium and Broad. The Sukeemon Masakata King of Pens fills with Sailor cartridges or the supplied converter.
