Description
Playful, practical and holding plenty of ink, the Opus 88 Koloro Fountain Pen in Light Blue combines a satin transparent body with soft blue marbled accents and Opus 88's clever Japanese-style eyedropper filling system.
Key highlights
- Filling: eyedropper with a piston-operated shut-off valve
- Capacity: large ink reservoir, filled straight from the bottle
- Body: satin transparent resin with light blue marbled details
- Nib: size #5 stainless steel
- Nib options: EF, F, M, B, 1.4 stub
- Trim: chrome
- In the box: pen, glass pipette, Opus 88 gift box
What makes the Koloro special?
Most eyedropper pens can 'burp' ink when the air inside warms up. Opus 88 solves this with a shut-off valve. Unscrew the end knob a little to let ink flow while you write; screw it shut when you are done, and the ink stays sealed in the barrel, which is perfect for travel and long sessions away from your desk.
How to fill it
- Unscrew the section from the barrel
- Use the included pipette to fill the barrel with ink
- Screw the section back on, open the valve and start writing
There are no cartridges or converters to buy, and the big ink capacity means fewer refills.
Light Blue: calm and fresh
The light blue marbling floats inside the satin clear resin, giving the pen a soft, airy look. Fill it with a blue or turquoise ink to deepen the colour, or with a contrasting orange or pink for a fun twist.
Comfortable to write with
The Koloro is a generously sized pen with a grip of about 11mm and a weight of around 22g, so it feels substantial without being heavy. It measures about 143mm capped and posts for extra length.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Koloro take cartridges or a converter?
No, the Koloro is an eyedropper-only pen.
Which nib should I choose?
Fine or Medium for everyday writing; the 1.4 stub shows off shading and sheen in your favourite inks.
Does it leak when flying?
Close the shut-off valve and keep the pen nib-up during flights to minimise any risk.
