Description
Montegrappa Sea Shepherd: Caretta Caretta Limited Edition Fountain Pen
The loggerhead sea turtle, Caretta caretta, has crossed the oceans for millions of years, and today it is threatened by plastic and abandoned fishing gear. The Montegrappa Sea Shepherd: Caretta Caretta Limited Edition Fountain Pen is Montegrappa's tribute to the turtle and to Sea Shepherd, the marine conservation organisation that works to protect ocean life.
Made in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, by Montegrappa, the Montegrappa Caretta Caretta fountain pen is limited to 333 pieces. The Montegrappa Caretta Caretta fountain pen is a luxury writing instrument and a statement about caring for the sea, a meaningful gift for ocean lovers and divers.
Made from recovered fishing nets
Ghost nets, lost or abandoned by fishing boats, can trap turtles, dolphins and fish for years; the resin of the Montegrappa Caretta Caretta fountain pen is made from ghost nets recovered by Sea Shepherd volunteers and regenerated by iMilani through a certified recycling process, so each pen helps turn ocean waste into something lasting. Small variations in the Montegrappa Caretta Caretta fountain pen resin are natural.
Turtles in gold and lacquer
Gold-filled, hand-lacquered loggerhead turtles glide across the barrel of the Montegrappa Caretta Caretta fountain pen, while engraved waves run around its sterling silver cap band. On the cap top of the Montegrappa Caretta Caretta fountain pen, the Sea Shepherd Jolly Roger, a skull with a trident and a shepherd's staff, is engraved with faint dolphin and sperm whale silhouettes.
The 18K gold nib
The Montegrappa Caretta Caretta fountain pen has an 18K gold nib, offered in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad and Stub 1.1, and fills with cartridges or a converter.
Size and weight
At 138mm long, 16mm in diameter and around 40g, the Montegrappa Caretta Caretta fountain pen is a comfortable, well-balanced size for everyday writing.
