Description
Montegrappa Montgolfier Limited Edition Roller Ball Pen
The Montegrappa Montgolfier Limited Edition Rollerball Pen is a tribute to the first public hot-air balloon flight at Versailles in 1783, when the Montgolfier brothers sent a sheep, a duck and a rooster into the sky and opened the age of flight.
Montegrappa, the Italian pen maker based in Bassano del Grappa since 1912, has turned the richly decorated balloon into a writing instrument of sky-blue resin, sterling silver and vermeil. The Montegrappa Montgolfier rollerball is limited to 280 numbered pieces, matching the 280 fountain pens in the edition.
A balloon in silver and gold
Ornamental drapery surrounds a golden crown on the cap of the Montegrappa Montgolfier rollerball, alongside a zodiac ring and a lion medallion that speak of the Enlightenment. A golden eagle soars over the sky-blue barrel, and the lost-wax cast clip is shaped like the twisted ropes that held the balloon to earth.
Effortless rollerball writing
If you love the look of a collector's pen but prefer not to fill with ink, the Montegrappa Montgolfier rollerball is the perfect choice. A Montegrappa rollerball refill gives a smooth, liquid line for signatures, letters and journaling, with no bottles and no flushing.
Weight and presence
At 156mm long and 18mm wide, and weighing about 102g, the Montegrappa Montgolfier rollerball is a large, heavy pen that feels important in the hand, exactly as an heirloom piece should.
