Montegrappa Casanova Limited Edition Roller Ball Pen
Giacomo Casanova, born in Venice in 1725, was far more than a famous lover: he was a writer, adventurer, gambler and spy, and his memoir Histoire de ma vie is one of the liveliest portraits of 18th-century Europe. The Montegrappa Casanova Limited Edition Rollerball Pen was created for the 300th anniversary of his birth.
Montegrappa, Italy's oldest pen maker, has captured the playfulness and splendour of Casanova's Venice in a pen of leather, sterling silver and gold-plated silver. The Montegrappa Casanova rollerball is a numbered limited edition, made for collectors who love history, romance and Italian decorative art.
Venetian rococo in silver
The Montegrappa Casanova rollerball draws on neoclassical and rococo ornament, expressed in sterling silver with yellow gold-plated silver accents and touches of cloisonné enamel. The leather-covered body gives it a warm, tactile feel that is unusual among luxury pens.
A door for discretion
True to Casanova's secretive life, the Montegrappa Casanova rollerball hides a small 'discretion door', a nod to the tradition of curiosa antiques, where the most interesting details are kept out of sight until you know where to look.
Writing with the rollerball
A Montegrappa rollerball refill gives the Montegrappa Casanova rollerball a smooth, flowing line, perfect for love letters, signatures and journal entries. At 154mm long, 18mm wide and around 100g, it is a substantial pen with a confident, luxurious weight.
