Description
If you are looking for a fountain pen that is easy to use, built to last and full of personality, the LAMY AL-star fountain pen in Rollerskate ticks every box. It is one of LAMY's two special edition AL-star colours for 2026, and it may be the happiest pen on your desk.
The Rollerskate look
A bright pink anodised aluminium body meets a translucent blue grip section, a blue clip and a blue front ring. Through the transparent grip you can glimpse the feed at work, and the whole pen feels like a summer evening at a roller rink.
Why the AL-star is a great fountain pen
The LAMY AL-star is the anodised aluminium sibling of the iconic LAMY safari, designed in Heidelberg, Germany, with the famous transparent triangular grip that guides your fingers into a relaxed, correct position. That grip is a big help if you are new to fountain pens, because it keeps the nib at the right angle without you having to think about it.
- Interchangeable steel nib: choose Extra Fine, Fine or Medium, and swap nibs later if your style changes
- Easy cartridge filling: a blue LAMY T10 cartridge is included
- Bottled ink option: add a LAMY Z28 converter, sold separately, and explore any ink colour you like
- Snap cap: quick to open for fast notes, and it posts on the back
- Ink window: the cut-out in the barrel shows how much ink remains
Choosing your nib
Extra Fine suits small handwriting and thin paper. Fine is the most popular choice for everyday notes. Medium gives a smoother, bolder line that shows off ink colour beautifully. If you are unsure, Fine is a safe start.
A gift that keeps giving
A LAMY fountain pen is a classic first fountain pen gift, and a special edition colour makes it feel extra thoughtful. Pair it with a bottle of blue or turquoise ink and a notebook, and you have a complete writing gift.
Special edition
The Rollerskate colour was released in summer 2026 as a special edition, so it may not stay in the range for long.
Ink ideas for Rollerskate
Want a matching colour? Try a pink or turquoise ink with a Z28 converter. Prefer to keep it smart for office notes? Blue-black looks wonderful against the pink body. Rinse the nib section with water between colours for the cleanest results.
