Description
A vintage filling system meets one of Esterbrook's most beautiful materials. The Esterbrook Estie Button Fill Fountain Pen in Nouveau Blue fills from the bottle with a press of a button, just like the classic pens of the mid-20th century, and wears a shimmering blue acrylic swirled with marbled brown.
Key highlights
- Filling: button filler, bottled ink
- Material: acrylic resin, Nouveau Blue
- Trim: palladium (CT)
- Nib: #6 stainless steel, engraved 'Esterbrook 1858'
- Cap: cushion-close screw cap
- Weight: about 24g
How a button filler works
Unscrew the blind cap at the end of the barrel to reveal a small button. With the nib in the ink, press the button down to squeeze the internal ink sac, then release it and the sac draws ink in. It is a simple, satisfying ritual that connects you with the fountain pens of the 1940s and 1950s, when Esterbrook was one of America's most popular pen makers.
Inspired by Art Nouveau
Nouveau Blue takes its cue from the Art Nouveau movement and its love of nature and flowing, organic lines. Deep, shimmering blue and marbled brown streaks move across the barrel and cap like water over stone, so every pen looks a little different.
The Estie in the hand
The Estie is a generously sized, comfortable pen: about 149mm capped and 170mm posted, with an 11mm grip section. Esterbrook's cushion-close cap seals the nib to keep it from drying out between uses.
