Its gold-trimmed body keeps that tapered torpedo profile, a concave grip and the classic white dot above the clip.

Piston filling with an ink window

Unlike most modern Sheaffers, the Balance III Glossy Black GT has a built-in piston filler: turn the knob to draw ink from a bottle. Sheaffer rates it at about 2ml, and an ink window shows when the Balance III Glossy Black GT needs a refill. A wrench comes with the Balance III Glossy Black GT for removing the piston for maintenance.

The nib

The Balance III Glossy Black GT writes with a die-stamped #6 two-tone steel nib with a heart-shaped breather hole and 1913, the year Sheaffer was founded.
