November 4, 2022 marks the centenary of Howard Carter’s discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb in Egypt’s Valley of the Gods. This writing instrument is fit for a king and pays tribute to Carter’s discovery through its most enduring image: the pharaoh’s extraordinary solid gold death mask. The pen is crafted in sterling silver with a cataphoretic coating to provide an antiqued effect. The cap is a sculpted representation of Tutankhamun’s mummy and is adorned with cloisonné, bas-reliefs and black diamonds. The top of the cap features a recreation of Tutankhamun’s death mask in versions of vermeil and solid gold, also using cloisonné and black diamonds to reproduce the lavish ornamentation of one of the world’s most celebrated art treasures. The pen features an 18K solid gold nib and a cartridge / converter for an easy writing experience.
